Bosch, One Of The First Observers Of Industry 4.0 Transformation In The World, And Maxion Wheels, The Global Leader Of Wheel Production, Implement Digital Transformation Solutions That Will Set An Example For Industrial Organizations In Turkey.
Bosch, one of the world’s leading companies, and Maxion Inci Wheel Group took a step to make a significant contribution to Turkey’s Industry 4.0 transformation. Bosch Group started to share the experience it gained globally in the field of Industry 4.0 transformation with Turkish industrial organizations aspiring to undertake digital transformation in their plants. Maxion Inci Wheel Group, a subsidiary of the world’s largest wheel producer Maxion Wheels and İnci Holding, announced that it will collaborate with Bosch in its digital transformation journey.
During the press meeting held in Manisa-based aluminum plant of Maxion Inci Wheel Group to launch the project, Bosch Turkey and Middle East President Steven Young said: “We have started to share the efforts we undertook and experience we gained in our more than 270 plants all over the world with Turkish industrial organizations”. Mustafa Zaim, the Board Chairman of Maxion Inci and Maxion Jantas, underscored Maxion Wheels’ position as the world’s largest wheel producer and said: “As part of Digitization and Industry 4.0 efforts, we aim to have flexible production lines, speed up our time-to-market, work with minimum levels of stocks within the process, improve our performance in increasing product complexity and flawless new product deployment, achieve digital integration in supply chain, and gain a competitive edge in production”.
Bosch’s goal is to save 1 billion EUR by 2020
Steven Young emphasized Bosch Group’s extensive know-how both in the ‘world of things’ and the ‘world of IT’, and added: “At Bosh, we first made the products we provide to our consumers web-enabled, and then digitized our existing ecosystems. These efforts were followed by Industry 4.0 transformation targeting to connect the entire value stream from supplier to plants and customers. Today, we supply and connect all mobility systems for industry, buildings, security and energy. In this regard, Bosch’s strategy is to become both the main user of solutions and a strong partner delivering them to the market. We have pioneering Industry 4.0 projects all over the world. The goal is to achieve savings equal to 1 billion EUR by 2020 through our Industry 4.0 solutions.”
Referring to Bosch as one of the earliest observers of Industry 4.0 transformation and to the pioneering role it plays in the field, Young continued: “We announced our willingness to share our solutions and the experience we gained with the industrialists in Turkey. Our statements stirred a great deal of attention in the business world. We partnered with industrialists who aspired to become part of this transformation. Our local and specialized Industry 4.0 team holds meetings with these industrialists and conducts site analyses. In this context, we have undertaken the consultancy for the Industry 4.0 transformation project in Manisa plants of Maxion Inci Wheel Group and therefore launched an important collaboration that will set an example in Turkey.”
“State subsidies are important to motivate industrialists for digital transformation”
Steven Young said that Turkey should never run behind Industry 4.0 transformation, and delivered the following remarks: “Network-connected industry is now becoming real. However, success can only be achieved when all players work together and are open for its implementation. In the past we were optimizing our processes by only examining our own factories or remaining within the boundaries of our own businesses, whereas now we need to overcome the obstacles between companies and think in terms of business ecosystems”. Young also added that state subsidies are important to motivate small and medium industrialists wishing to come up with a road map for, and implement, digital transformation.
An exemplary project among Maxion Wheels’ 19 plants in the world
Maxion Inci and Maxion Jantas Board Chairman, Mustafa Zaim said: “We decided to partner with Bosch in the next stages of our journey for digital transformation and Industry 4.0.” He expressed their pride for the selection of Turkey by the world’s largest wheel producer Maxion Wheels among the 19 plants it has in the world for digital transformation, and underscored the importance Maxion Inci Wheel Group places on digital transformation with the following remarks: “Our Maxion Inci Wheel Group attained its leading position in the sector today thanks to the journey we launched since 2000 towards cultural change and continuous development. We are aware of the importance of digital transformation in today’s world. Digital transformation changes our lives, habits and ways of doing business. We are going through a great period of transformation, and adapting to this change is vital for businesses. Radical changes will take place in global automotive industry. We are expecting deep-rooted, conceptual and structural changes in transport as well. Traditional engineering-driven structure of automotive will soon be focused on digital and IT across the entire supply chain, with service-orientation and much further integration with other sectors.”
Our goal is to transform into smart digital organizations by 2030
Expressing belief that Bosch will further strengthen them thanks to the specialized technical team and achievements in on-site implementation all over the world, Mustafa Zaim said: “We will continue to increase our capacities and production quantities through projects we will undertake with a focus on digitization at Maxion Inci Wheel Group.”
Together with giant corporations in different sectors, they carry out 12 projects selected via use of the 4 Lenses of Innovation methodology across the world, Zaim said and added: “In this project, Maxion Inci Aluminum Plant, a pioneering enterprise in every field, was chosen as pilot by the Global Organization of Maxion Wheels. The main reason for this choice is that it is the world’s largest plant in aluminum wheel production for passenger cars and that it has the most sophisticated infrastructure and most advanced technology. Maxion Wheels operate in 5 continents, 15 countries, with 19 plants and 11 thousand people. And we produce one in every 8 wheels used by the key industry in the world.”
This project initiated with Bosch is made of 3 phases and the first step will be taken this year in the pilot lines, Mustafa Zaim said and remarked that their aim in this project is to deploy the whole plan with three phases by the end of 2023. “Our goal is to transform all our plants into smart digital organizations incorporating all relevant processes by 2030”, he added.
